Me Making glass at the University of South Australia

100_0983.JPG

Welcome to my Portfolio based site that's themed around my glass blowing practice. I update this site on a regular basis so new pictures and videos are added frequently.

Artist Statement :

My recent works revolve around historical culture and stories that were told. Using a combination of contemporary and traditional glass blowing skills, i've tried to celebrate my findings and research in a new context. I believe that hand skill is a important part of are culture and why making objects by hand is so important to generating ideas. The more you use a material, the more insite you have to its boundries. The amazing aspect about scupting glass is that there are no set guide lines or rules to make surtain things. There are alot of instruction on how to produce blown work, so i enjoy documenting my findings as I learn and create. The artists that influce me the most are William Morris, Mark Petrovic and Richard Jolley. Apart from sculpting they are heavily inspired by Humans and Animals in there natrual habitat . Once these artists have recorded there interests though drawing, exploring and sight seeing, they then make realistic renditions of what they've seen in glass. I strive to be as technically good as i can to make work to there standard and above. I try to make sure that my works are always authentic and doesn't become to in-your-face as possible. Sutilty is key for me and my work.
